Communications

Through a broad range of experience I've come to understand how marketing can improve perception through clear communication with any audience, whether you're speaking to media, internal staff, a neighborhood, concert goers, donors, national retailers or customers.

Digital and Print
I've created marketing and communications emails, newsletters, speeches, presentations, news releases, surveys and social media content, as well as informative materials including brochures, calendars, letters, ads and shipping materials. I've also directed product and event-related photo and video shoots.

My work has consisted of project management and coordinating with various clients, departments and team members for content and approval, including:

  • Interviewing experts to gather accurate information
  • Drafting that information in a concise, engaging and optimized way
  • Deciding what photos, videos, testimonials, etc. supplement the copy
  • Producing digital packages on regular deadlines for distribution through websites and newsletters
  • Working with designers on fitting in and featuring all the right content on print and digital projects
  • Working with production teams to print materials on time for the best price
  • Working with media to get the needed information to the right audience at the right time
  • Determining a vision for photo and video shoots to gather all necessary storytelling content

Background
Most recently I worked in a starup atmosphere overseeing ecommerce marketing and customer service at Proven Winners Direct by Four Star Greenhouse. Before that I landed a dream job at a non-profit, working in communications for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. My first full-time position gave me broad communications experience working in Public Relations at Hart, a full-service marketing agency.

While earning my journalism degree from Bowling Green State University, I was selected Editor-in-Chief of the university's newspaper. I also gained experience while interning and freelancing for The Monroe News, as well as doing a marketing and events internship at the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti Regional Chamber.
